After Dawson, you're heading south on the Dempster Highway with zero cell service and no fuel until you return. Fill fuel completely, buy food for 3 days, withdraw CAD cash.

Diamond Tooth Gerties
Canada's oldest legally operating casino β but more importantly, an 1898 gambling hall with cancan girl shows every evening. diamondtoothgerties.ca. Kids over a certain age may be allowed β check before going. Absolutely iconic Dawson experience.
Midnight Dome Viewpoint
Drive or hike up to this hilltop above Dawson for panoramic views of the Yukon River, Klondike valley, and surrounding wilderness. At sunset in late August β absolutely stunning gold light.
Free Yukon River Ferry
The George Black ferry crosses the Yukon River for FREE. Take it to the west bank and back for a unique perspective on the town and river. Runs 24/7 in summer.
DΓ€nojΓ Zho Cultural Centre
Tr'ondΓ«k HwΓ«ch'in First Nations cultural center. Excellent exhibits on the original people of the Dawson area β pre-dating the Gold Rush by thousands of years. Really moving and well-done.
Historic Downtown Walk
Most of Dawson City looks exactly as it did in 1898 β unpaved dirt streets, leaning wooden buildings, original storefronts. Parks Canada offers guided tours. Kids can imagine the gold rush chaos.
Dawson City Museum
Excellent collection of Gold Rush artifacts, photos, and stories. The original government administration building. About 2 hours for a thorough visit.

8 km RT from town Β· +350m Β· 3β4 hrs Β· or 2 km from parking area
Hike or drive. The summit view over Dawson at golden hour is something you won't forget. Go at sunset β the Yukon River glows.

Good family hike above the town. Views over the Klondike River confluence with the Yukon. Good for everyone 8+.
En Route from Kluane (5.5 hrs)
Five Finger Rapids β Worthwhile Stop
~100 km south of Dawson on the Klondike Highway. Short walking trail to a viewpoint over four rock pillars in the Yukon River. Gold Rush steamboats had to navigate these β fascinating and beautiful.
